Customer Review: Buy it for the beginning anatomy & figure drawing sections
EMMET ELVIN's "Learn to draw MANGA":

I rate 5 stars, not for it's MANGA instruction, per se. In fact, I do not even read Manga comics, and could care less for their art. I found this book on Bargain Price at Barnes & Noble (about $7.98) and bought it because it contained an excellent HUMAN (rather than cartoon MANGA) ANATOMY. A full seventy pages, of this 190 page book is what Emmet Elvin devotes to accurate human anatomical drawing. No wonder Elvin's book is on sale; it's just too good for the MANGA market!

In brief, I admire Emmet Elvin for his presentation of the subject, the demonstration of the uses of the HONEGUMI SKELETON in action studies for the student. Moreover, Emmet Elvin holds himself to a very high standard of drawing, and it is my belief that he would make an excellent instructor for a Life Drawing class, or even to publish his own figure drawing text. There are so many "bad" figure drawing books out there. Emmet Elvin is the JACK HAMM of MANGA.
